Flintridge Fund

What is the Flintridge Fund?

The Flintridge Fund is a community-wide fundraiser supported by current parents, parents of alumnae, alumnae, grandparents and the Board of Directors. The Flintridge Fund drives the unique opportunities and programming that teaches 21st century skills, unlocking students' limitless potential to positively impact the world. In addition, the fund ensures that more families have access to critical tuition assistance, furthering our mission to create a diverse community.

Why is the Flintridge Fund Important?

The Flintridge Fund is our most important fundraising effort. It is a line item in our current year operating budget, representing about 7% of the total. Annual gifts make up most of the difference between what tuition covers and the actual cost of educating each student (about $5,000 per student).

Our annual giving season is every year from July 1 to June 30 and annual gifts range generally from $10 to more than $50,000. Everyone is asked to participate.

Gifts to the Flintridge Fund are tax-deductible and support the extra things that make our school great such as small class sizes (that is, teacher salaries), professional development for faculty and staff, an extended financial aid and scholarship program and enhanced and expanded curricular and co-curricular programs.

In the end, it’s all about the girls. What’s it all about for you?

Frequently Unasked Questions

List of 5 frequently asked questions.

  • Q. My family is already paying tuition. What does my daughter get when we donate to the Flintridge Fund as well?

    A. While it may seem like tuition should cover all of your daughter’s expenses, it does not. That’s where the Flintridge Fund comes in. Your gifts to the Flintridge Fund support our outstanding teachers, small class sizes and enhance and enrich our highly personalized, challenging and engaging student experiences through an innovative curriculum and state-of-the-art technology.  While we manage our costs, our offerings that prepare your daughter for the 21st century drive the budget up. To balance the budget, we need you to be as generous as you can each year to the Flintridge Fund.
  • Q. Flintridge Sacred Heart’s campus is beautiful.  It sure doesn’t look like it needs money. Why should I give?

    A. We take great pride in our campus on the Hill and the extraordinary programs that occur in and outside of the classroom.  We know that many parents new to an independent school education assume that Flintridge Sacred Heart is affluent. While the School is in a strong financial position, it is because of a combination of tuition, philanthropic support and effective financial stewardship. Another benefit your philanthropic support is our extraordinary campus.  Every student benefits, every day, from the Flintridge Fund.
  • Q. Why don’t you just increase tuition to cover the cost to educate?

    A. We work hard to keep our tuition as low as possible so that we can make a Flintridge Sacred Heart education affordable to as many students as possible.  We depend upon the Flintridge Fund to close most of the gap (about $5,000) between tuition and what it actually costs to provide your daughter with an exceptional education.  Some can donate the full difference or more and some can donate a much smaller amount.  Either way, every gift matters.  And, while tuition is not tax-deductible, your Flintridge Fund gift is!
  • Q. What is the impact of the Flintridge Fund on financial aid?

    A. Your gifts to the Flintridge Fund, along with endowment income, help us offer the financial aid that supports a diverse student body.  Without a robust Flintridge Fund we would be unable to offer as many qualified and deserving students financial assistance.  Your gifts makes the school more affordable to a wider range of students, bringing your daughter the many benefits of social and economic diversity.
  • Q. Why should I give to a capital campaign for new buildings that will not be completed until after my daughter graduates?

    A. All of what your daughter enjoys today at Flintridge Sacred Heart--the Student Activities Center, the remodel of the Mozilo Family Center for the Arts and other facility upgrades—were made possible by the vision and generosity of parents, alumnae parents and grandparents, organizations and friends who preceded you.  Through their gifts, every generation pays it forward to thank those who came before them so that future generations of students will benefit. Lastly, your investment will also build the school’s long-term reputation, which will always benefit your daughter.
